Clark County required a new building to house their Building Department in response to the exceptional growth and demands for future construction services. The design team collaborated with many county agencies for successful project delivery, and the two-story, 80,800 s.f. office building integrated a renovation of the existing building. The exterior design blends-in with the existing building and features Corten steel that echoes the desert landscape and connection to the nearby Redrock Canyon. The project integrated portions of the Fire Prevention Department and Automotive Operations for Las Vegas Valley and outlying areas of Clark County, and the on-site parking lot accommodates 1,170 parking spaces.

The foremost challenge of the project was to keep the facility fully operational throughout construction, which was achieved by working closely with all the user groups and developing detailed construction phasing plans and interim working arrangements as construction progressed. This careful coordination through the designs led to a facility that experienced fully operational services for their customers over the duration of multiple construction phases. The project represents a showpiece of building code compliance, demonstrating proper implementation of all applicable codes and restrictions, with a design that incorporates to the desert environment with a modest yet tasteful aesthetic.
