Northern Illinois University Student Housing, DeKalb, IL

JNKA designed this new 10-story, mixed-use, student housing facility for a private developer to provide state-of-the-art housing for 1,077 students with 34,000 s.f. of retail space and a two-story enclosed garage with 284 parking spaces. The student apartments include three-bed, four-bed, and five-bed units complete with full service kitchens featuring granite counter tops, washer & dryers, and wall mounted flat panel televisions. Some of the units feature second floor bedrooms overlooking a two-story living room/dining area. Additional features include roof terraces and an exterior green space that provides a buffer between the building and the street.
