In 2022, JNKA Architects was commissioned by the University of Notre Dame to design the Phase III – West Development expansion of the university’s historic Cedar Grove Cemetery. Originally envisioned and designed as three new garden mausolea grouped around a new open-air committal shelter, the committal shelter was the highest priority for the cemetery, and in late 2023 JNKA was authorized to move forward with full architectural, engineering and sacred artwork design services for the Our Lady of Sorrows Committal Shelter for completion of construction in 2026.
