President and Director of Design

Thomas Dietz joined JNKA in 2018 and was promoted to Associate in 2021. Licensed since 2009, Thomas brings a diverse experience in the application of history and context to religious and institutional architecture. Long interested in faith-based and nonprofit work, Mr. Dietz is a member of both the Society for Catholic Liturgy and the Catholic Art Institute, and has assisted both the Institute for Sacred Architecture and Catholic Church Tours. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Dietz completed further architectural studies at MIT, principally working under several leading Renaissance historians. He supplemented his professional education with further studies in the humanities at the University of Chicago. Among his professional associations, he is an inaugural and ongoing member of the Society of Architectural Historians’ benefit host committees, and a LEED Accredited Professional and sitting member of the Illinois Green Alliance’s Program Committee. He has held a past gubernatorial appointment to the Illinois Capital Development Board’s Public Arts Advisory Committee, and has served on the Faculty of the University of Notre Dame.
